In this chaotic, messy life, it's no wonder we will always miss the beauty around us, whether it's from an apparent angle, mood or just enough to relieve our feelings and hearts. Humans will not be able to escape from beauty and yearn for beauty, as God is beautiful and loves beauty. Indeed, interpreting beauty will be very complex because of its abstractness and breadth, but on the other hand it is also very clear and real. Let us see how beauty and its role are as a creative force (creative force) or in terms of everyday practice.

As a creative force, Beauty helps humans break off their intellectual barriers or discursive thoughts into the void, which is the goal of every spiritual or spiritual journey. It is said that beauty is essential to the spiritual life because it helps break the knitting of the discursive mind and penetrates the ego's efforts to weave another robe for itself out of the threads of doctrine. With a breath of generosity, beauty is able to break the rigid and closed attitude of the ego. [1] And of course this is not an easy job because the nature of the ego, sentiment, is a human nature that is difficult to break (read: transformation). The ego always has its own cunning and subtle way of always sticking out.

Beauty in certain aspects is also closely related to love. Many Sufis express this connection in their work. One of them is al-Ghazali who in his work Chemistry of Happiness relates beauty and love, where when love has a rank, so does beauty. And if God loves beauty, of course the beauty that is meant is the beauty that is related to the divine purposes of creation. Referring to a hadith that is often cited by Sufis "I am a hidden treasure, I love to be known", the love associated with hidden treasures is the infinite knowledge ('ilm) of God. Therefore beauty, like graded knowledge, also has rank.

And for them talk of beauty is talk of love, and vice versa. The aspect of beauty, in God, is very primary in the context of spiritual love. Love implies a desire for belonging and for unity. In its immediate sense, loving God, if it doesn't mean wanting to have Him, at least desires to experience His presence and His love. Finally, to desire union with Him as the highest pinnacle of beauty.

This tendency also helps us to reveal how beauty is closely related to the aspects of adoration and love.  Shaykh Abū'l-Hasan Najjār (as quoted by the great poet, Jāmī),    very beautifully expressed that:

Everyone is actually an idol worshiper, that is, worshiping his beloved (ma'syūq). When spring is my idol, it means I love spring. When summer comes and all the flowers are in bloom, I am compelled to look at the flowers to soothe my eyes. Although the aesthetic emphasis results from the possibility of such idolatry, it is meant to guard against any temptation that accompanies it by rejecting all sensual entertainments like the aestheticists. However, the gnosis perspective bases itself on the fact that pleasure, however, can open up to the intuition of truth and deepen virtue. On the other hand, the pleasure that brings man closer to God is not profound enough than suffering, and perhaps in some ways more intense. When a person is afflicted with a problem, then he is able to get out of his thorny problem, then on the one hand the suffering will be easier to remember, besides that he also actually witnesses how beauty works. Her testimony to her suffering and her turn to something else will shed light on the beauty in it.
